A Tradition Since 1914

"One of the oldest road races in the United States"

The "Paul Revere Marathon"

The Lexington Lions Club Patriots Day Road Race traces its roots back over a century. It was first run in 1914, originated and sponsored by the Lexington Athletic Association (LAA). In those early days, this grueling contest was known as the "Paul Revere Marathon," setting the stage for a legacy of athletic excellence in our historic town.

Ralph "Curlie" Currier

In the inaugural 1914 race, Ralph "Curlie" Currier stood out among a field of just 10 runners. He crossed the finish line in 1st place, etching his name into history.

In 2006, Currier's family generously donated his original trophy back to the Lexington Lions Club. Today, in his honor, we award the Currier Cup—a trophy inscribed with the name of every winner from 1914 to the present day.
